How PDF Splitting Works

Our browser-based tool extracts each page from your PDF as a separate file, preserving original quality and formatting.

1. Select your PDF

Choose the PDF file from your device. Files up to 50MB are supported for reliable browser performance.

2. Pages are extracted

Each page is copied into its own PDF file. Original formatting, fonts, and images are preserved exactly.

3. Download individual pages

Files download automatically — one per page. Keep the pages you need and discard the rest.

When to Split a PDF

PDF splitting is useful when you need to extract specific pages from a multi-page document — for example, pulling a single form out of a document package, separating invoice pages to send to different recipients, or breaking a large report into individual sections for easier review.

Common use cases include sending individual pages as email attachments (staying under attachment size limits), uploading pages one-by-one to platforms that require single-page files, and extracting just the relevant pages from a long document to share with colleagues.

After splitting, you can use our PDF Merger tool to recombine specific pages in any order you want. For password-protected PDFs, use our PDF Unlock tool first to remove the password.

PDF Splitter FAQ

Does splitting a PDF change the formatting?

No. Each page is copied exactly as-is. Text, images, fonts, and layout remain identical to the original with no changes.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Processing happens entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

How many pages can I split at once?

There is no hard page limit. PDFs up to 50MB are supported. Processing time increases with page count.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

No. Password-protected PDFs cannot be split directly. Use our PDF Unlock tool to remove the password first, then split the unlocked file.
